Glad to see the Blog up. Now we can keep up on fellow team members needs and training schedules. Thanks Lauren for setting up the blog for us.

This is great! Looking forward to reading all the latest news of everyone’s rides and adventures. Not sure what everyone did this past weekend (I did not get to ride at all), but on 3/07/2009 Lynn, Elizabeth, Steve, Rick, Joey Smith and I rode in a 55 mile ride in Bartow (Florida) as part of the Blooming Bike Fest. Had a great time, and enjoyed riding with my sister Lynn while she was in Florida. We missed having Cindy with us, but know she will be joining us as soon as possible (keep thinking recovery, recovery, recovery).

    Thanks Lauren for your work!

    A.J.,

I am thinking Recovery, Recovery, Recovery and really looking forward to returning to the cycling world. Edema better today and able to perform heel to toe leg lift, YEAH !!! So who knows what tomorrow will bring. Have plenty of time to keep up with what everyone else is doing and know I have a lot of catching up to do. Stay Safe and Happy Cycling, Cindy with my new hip replacement

Obviously, this blog has not taken off as originally anticipated - so I guess I will have to carry the “conversation” until others decide to participate!

I am almost halfway there! Halfway there in my fundraising, and halfway there in the amount of miles I can pedal before dropping dead! I am starting to have the Thomas the Train mentality “I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!”

Please help all of us - by words of encouragement and donation of funds!

    Thanks so much!
    Blessings to all-

Hey … congrats on the halfways of everything! Britain and I are working on our letter and still getting him a bike … but he did do 26 miles two weeks ago and now that hockey is over and the weather is supposed to turn good, we might have better luck training. We are all almost halfway there … let’s keep it up and keep riding for the Cure!

FYI - Cindy got her green flag to begin training again on the recumbant bike! WAY TO GO CINDY! We are looking forward to seeing you out on the trail pedaling away! I am so very proud of you, I know this has been extremely difficult in many ways.

It is time to get up off your duff, and pedal, pedal, pedal! :)

Hi Everyone, Yes it is true I am riding again. Went out yesterday and rode with Rick on the Auburndale trail for a whole 6 miles. I have a ways to go but plenty of time to get there. It may be on the recumbant bike but it is still cycling and it beats waiting another 6 months to start riding. Who says you can’t ride after you get a new hip !! See you on the trail shortly, Cindy

Hello! Just wanted to report that Diane and I participated in the TourDeCure last weekend. We rode 68 miles from Jacksonville to St. Augustine Beach and had a blast!

Wish more of the team could have participated, but know there will be other opportunities to ride together before Death Valley.

    Happy pedaling everyone!

Well team, we are less than 100 days away and I know everyone is getting excited, nervous and a little bit freaked out … no worries … book your travel, keep begging your friends and co-workers and supporters for money and most of all …train like you mean it! Seriously, I think the group as a whole will get each one us through this and I can’t begin to express how happy I am for each of you, my family, my friends and everyone to be joining us on this remarkable and so worthwhile journey. Keep your heads up, keep your feet clipped in and let’s take the next 90+ days by storm … we’ll see everyone in Vegas … with our showgirl costumes on!
    Cheers,

Hello family and team! For those of you located in hot & humid Central Florida, there is another opportunity for us to ride together! Saturday, September 5 is the Tour de Tow in Bartow. Choose from a Family Fun Ride of 18 miles (not!) for $15.00, Half Metric Ride $25.00 and Metric Century Ride $30.00. I think we should all should enroll via http://www.Active.com for the metric century and go out and have some fun!

Looking forward to our ride in just 87 days in Death Valley. I so appreciate everyone’s efforts in training and fundraising. It means the world to me that each of you are helping to find a cure!

Watch out Vegas - here we come! (but not necessarily with our showgirl costumes on!)

    Hi Everyone,

I am happy to report that I graduated from my recumbent bike back to my Canndondale Road Bike this week. Rode a total of 61 miles this week. Started with 2 miles on Monday, 6 miles on Wednesday, 21.19 on Saturday and 32.92 on Sunday. Not too bad after an approx. 7 month break/recovery.
Had a great time riding the West Orange Trail with Diane, A.J., and Rick. Feel like I may be able to make it to Jubilee Hill now. Looking forward to riding more soon. Also to staying at the MGM Grand after the ride for a little celebration time. Have a great week, Cindy

Greetings! We are Death Valley bound in a mere 20 days with the ride only 22 days away. We appreciate everyone’s encouragement and donations over the last 9 months.

Unfortunately, quite a few of our team members have not been as fortunately as others and are still lacking in their fundraising.

Two fundraisers are planned in the Winter Haven area - please come out and have dinner and help our team reach their goal.

    1) Monday, October 5, 2009 Auburndale Chili’s 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 10% of your dinner check will be donated to the team

    2) Tuesday, October 6, 2009 Winter Haven Chili’s 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. 10% of your dinner check will be donated to the team

Both locations require you to have the JDRF coupon - so please get the coupon from us and come out to join the fun!
